The Arab House

The Arab House (Casa de los Árabes) is an important cultural institution in Old Havana. It preserves Arab heritage in Cuba and also holds a meaningful place in the story of Islam on the island.

A cultural landmark

Established in 1983, Casa de los Árabes was created to preserve and present Arab culture and history in Cuba. Over time, it became a respected institution where visitors could learn about Arab heritage through exhibitions, architecture, and cultural programming.

An important prayer space

Casa de los Árabes also played an important role in Muslim life in Cuba. Before the opening of a full mosque in Havana, it housed a recognized Muslim prayer room and served as an important place for prayer and gathering. For many years, it was one of the most visible public sites connected to Islam in the country.

Its significance today

Today, Casa de los Árabes stands at the meeting point of culture, memory, and faith. It continues to be an important part of understanding the Arab and Muslim presence in Cuba and helps tell a story that connects heritage with religious life.
